Brand identity

When ART AND MUSIC COLLIDE

Redwave is an EDM artist who produces bass music. He approached me to create a brand identity and a collection of assets to help him build his brand as he progressed in his music career. I was tasked with concepting a brand identity and logo design as well as 4 album covers, digital assets for promotional use online and three short video clips to accompany his live performances. The only parameters I was given for the logo was to explore soundwaves as a theme. For the album cover and promotional assets, the client asked that the design encapsulate the vibe that I felt while listening to the music.

The Unknown EP Album Cover

This project was a challenging opportunity to envision the musicians’ identity and conceptual ideas in the creation of their music, translating it into a visual medium. I used photo composting in Photoshop to develop mystifying surrealist pieces that best encapsulated the experience I felt and envisioned while listening to a specific track. For the additional assets I used After Effects and Illustrator for motion design and logo creation. Below is an in-depth break down of the conceptual symbolism in the Redwave mark.

I developed, illustrated and designed this intricate mark with several defining symbols that tie in the main concepts of the artists brand identity. As a freelance creative working independently, I was responsible for the entirety of this project. I concepted, sketched, designed and executed each of the album covers, including selecting the typography, colors and visual effects. I also created the accompanying promotional elements for the artist’s online music profile as well as a short video clip for the artist to include in a VJ loop that would play during their live performances. Below is a showcase of the aforementioned creative assets.
